I am interested in joining the School Board because I’d like to support the growth and development of the children in our area. 

Our children includes two of my grandchildren!  I’ve lived in Ucluelet for forty years, taught in all three schools for thirty of those years  and run a swimming programme at the Westcoast Motel in the 80’s. My husband and I raised our three children here and now two of them have settled in Ucluelet with children of their own. (How lucky am I!)

In all of these years I have been a part of a huge fundraising machine. In the late 80’s and most of the 90’s I was a part of a 5 person group that built and ran Ucluelet’s first recycling depot. Then, as my children got older, fundraising became a way of life. If you look at the soccer programme in Ucluelet and see the Tugwel fields, the uniforms and the equipment, know that it all began in the late 90’s and was started from scratch. Likewise, the basketball programme at the high school was developed by parents fundraising for the clocks ($20,000!) glass backboards and all uniforms. 

In recent years I have been a volunteer at the Food Bank and helped out in the Grade One classroom at UES. 

This isn’t a way to tick off all of my accomplishments, but it shows that I know how to work with a group and get things done! 

WE ARE SMALL BUT MIGHTY OUT HERE ON THE WESTCOAST.

As the future school board representative for our area my job right now is to listen to all of the stakeholders and from there research ways to support our schools.
